Caliper tool has arms or fingers that are open in the wellbore to contact the inside of the pipe. This can be casing or tubing. A
logging run may then be made to read the inside diameter of a given section of the pipe. The caliper can be used to locate scale problems,
parted pipe, holes and or splits, and other possible damage. Some types of Caliper tools can also locate collars and perforations.
